#SunsetServes
#SunsetServes is a pillar of the culture at Sunset. By participating as an individual or group acts of philanthropy, it’s something we think highly of here.
Sunset
Gives Back
Sunset’s culture promotes giving back to our communities through our flagship giving event, Scouting for Food, and also through our team’s individual passions and causes that matter most to them.
Through our #SunsetServes program, all Sunsetters are encouraged to take one paid day off to volunteer in their communities.
Sunset + Scouting for Food
Step 1
Every November, thousands of Boy Scouts, parents, and volunteers (including Sunset!) distribute the famous “blue bags” to residences across 64 counties in the St. Louis metro area.
View Sunset’s requirements to book a Sunset load.
Step 2
The volunteers return a week later to retrieve bags filled with over 1.9 million non-perishable food items (last we counted). They take the blue bags to over 30 local firehouses for mass collection.

Step 3
At the local fire houses, the food is boxed and prepared to load. Palletized food is loaded onto volunteer trailers arranged by, you guessed it, Sunset Transportation, and then transported to the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
Legal stuff…we know you don’t want to read it, but here it is.
The food collected (in a single day, mind you) is enough to supply St. Louis Area for approximately four (4) months and stocks over 500 pantries in Missouri and Illinois. In 2021, 1.98 million food items were gathered.
