Liberty Baugher talks ocean capabilities in December #SunsetSays
Sunset’s International Manager, Liberty Baugher, takes a minute to share a short case study of a complex customer move — a 4-container ocean shipment using specialized containers, crane loading/unloading, weighing 56,262 pounds.
Summary
- The shipment discussed here was unique because it used every type of container in the industry – standard, high cube, open top, and flat rack oversize. Sunset is able to offer all ocean modes from every international port.
- The shipment came from Shanghai, China into Fontana, California between September and October 2020.
- While we’re all still feeling the logistical effects of COVID, it’s safe to say this is one of the most congested times in the history of ocean freight due to that, blank sailings, equipment, and manpower shortages in the ports.
- A typical shipment is taking roughly 7 ½ weeks from sailing to delivery — 3 weeks for bookings in China – 2.5 weeks on the water – 2 weeks to be released from port. Sunset was able to bring this high-value, high-priority shredding machine into the customer within 3½ weeks.
