Lindsey Graves speaks at St. Louis Business Journal’s Top Companies panel
Sunset’s President and CEO, Lindsey Graves, joined the St. Louis Business Journal’s Fastest and Biggest Privately-Held Companies panel on Thursday, accompanied by Chrissy Nardini, President of American Metals Supply Co. Nearly 350 people, most of whom were representing some of St. Louis’ largest private companies, gathered at the Enterprise Center to celebrate the STLBJ’s annual Top Companies event.

Sunset is proud to make the Top 150 Privately Held Companies by the St. Louis Business Journal for the fifth consecutive year, jumping up the list to #65 from #81 in 2021. Additionally, Sunset has landed a spot on the Fastest-Growing Private Companies list, coming in at #28.
When asked about how Sunset’s manages growth, Graves said, “Sunset is an open-door company. We say this a lot, but even as we have grown to over 250 employees in eight branches, leadership is very accessible and open to suggestions. Of course we’re staffing to accommodate more freight business, but the people side is also a major focus for us. Our rapid growth goes hand-in-hand with working diligently on our culture and inclusivity of all people at Sunset.“
Graves adds, “We are continuously improving and evaluating at Sunset. Change, for us, isn’t a bad word; it’s part of our year-over-year philosophy. Does it work for our customers? Does it work for our employees? Does it make sense for the business? We’re always asking these questions. For employees specifically, we have invested in their professional development and goal-setting with software that makes these check-ins more routine and expected. Our Sunsetters expect open feedback, especially in the changing workforce today.“
