Sunset CEO Jim Wiliams Receives Highest Honor from St. Louis Boy Scouts

Sunset congratulates Jim Williams, founder and CEO, for being honored with the  Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest award a local council can present to an adult volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America.

Jim Williams is dedicated to Scouting and our community. He has been involved with the St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (STLBSA) for several years and has served served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. Seven years ago, Scouting for Food was in jeopardy when the U.S. Army was deployed to Iraq and could no longer provide transportation and logistics support. Jim stepped in. He volunteered his company, Sunset Transportation, to provide logistics and transportation for America’s largest one-day food drive.

The mammoth effort involves 30,000 Boy Scouts, 46 fire stations, over 50 tractor trailer trucks, and 2.1 million pounds of food—all in one day. As a result, enough food is collected every year to feed the hungry in the St. Louis area for four months.
