Sunset Transportation Becomes a Certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise

Sunset is proud to announce our national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Midwest chapter, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

ST. LOUIS, MO – Sunset Transportation, a privately-owned third-party logistics company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has been granted certification by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Midwest chapter.  This designation is granted following a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection, providing authentication by a national governing body to businesses who are at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women.

Sunset’s nine (9) branch offices (Grand Haven, MI; Green Bay, WI; Laredo, TX; Nashville, TN; Nuevo Laredo, MX, Queretaro, MX; St. Louis, MO; St. Paul, MN; Wilson, NC) are included in this national designation.

This news follows on the heels of promoting Sunset’s second-generation leader and former Chief Operating Officer Lindsey (Williams) Graves to majority Owner & Chief Executive Officer.  Other promotions include Tracy Meetre to Chief Commercial Officer, and Mick McGrory to Chief Operating Officer as of January 1, 2021.  They join Sunset’s CFO Mark Cammarata as they lead the 170-person national organization.  Jim Williams, Sunset’s founder, remains as Chairman.

Graves is a 16-year veteran of Sunset and leads by example.  A mother of three (3) girls, and active in the St. Louis business community as a Board Member of the Greater St. Louis Boy Scouts of America and Enterprise Bank & Trust, she is consistently pushing the boundaries of Sunset’s growing potential.

Currently, women account for just 25% of senior managers and directors in the logistics industry; Sunset is ahead of the curve with 50% of all senior management-level and above roles occupied by women.

I am thrilled to share the news of our WBENC certification and also very proud to sit amongst the strong, capable women at the table around me.  As we continue to grow at Sunset, inclusion, diversity, and maintaining our equal ratio of women and men are at the forefront of our hiring goals.  Our success has been solely due to the family-oriented, driven team around me who work hard but also recognize the flexibility needed to be successful in business today.   Every Sunsetter has a voice“, says Lindsey Graves, CEO.
