Sunset Transportation Thanks 16 Carriers for Donated Services, Equipment to Largest One-Day Food Drive in America

Volunteer Fleet Transported 2.1 Million Canned Goods for “Scouting for Food” on Nov. 20

Nov 22, 2010 – In a mammoth event that involved 30,000 Boy Scouts, 44 local fire stations and over a million home visits, the “Scouting for Food” event on Nov. 20, 2010, brought together the community to serve the less fortunate. St. Louis-based Sunset Transportation would like to thank the 16 carriers that donated their services and equipment. Because of the generosity of these companies, Sunset was able to transport 2.1 million canned goods in only 9 hours, using 55 tractor trailers. As a result of this one day, approximately 500 pantries within the Greater St. Louis Area will be served for the next four months.

Companies that donated services and equipment:

Sunset Transportation began handling logistics for “Scouting for Food” seven years ago when the U.S. Army was deployed to Iraq and could no longer provide transportation and logistics support for the Boy Scouts.
