Sunset Adds Cross-Border Customs Brokerage Network and Laredo Warehouse to International Service Portfolio


ST. LOUIS – Sunset Transportation, a Top 10 privately-owned third-party logistics company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is proud to announce the grand opening of a new branch office and warehouse space at the Laredo, TX and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico border.

The Texas-based branch is a new avenue for Sunset, offering a full suite of US/MX cross-border customs brokerage and logistics management services, including a secure, CTPAT-compliant and food grade-certified warehouse built in 2018.  Sunset Laredo provides a competitive advantage for customers; full control and visibility to their north and southbound shipments without outsourcing US and MX customs clearance.  Other capabilities: multi-modal brokerage, cross-docking, consolidation, in-transit bonds, ISF, duty drawback programs, US/MX and EEI declarations, and a robust shipper technology platform to track past, in-transit, and post-shipment KPIs. 

The office is led by MX Customs  and logistics expert Jose Minarro as Managing Director, and Daniel Treviño as Operations Manager for day-to-day customer operations.

Prior to joining Sunset, Jose spent 11 years as a co-founder and Managing Director of Transplace Mexico.  He built the business from the ground up and after reaching much success (managing 850 employees and over 120,000 annual cross-border shipments), Jose chose to join the Sunset team and focus solely on mid-market shippers and high service with a like-minded 3PL.  Laredo’s current business focus lies in the Bajio, Monterrey and  Mexico City regions, capitalizing on the high presence of industrial and manufacturing customers in those locations.

An efficient implementation during summer 2019 has paved the way for a smooth introduction on September 1, 2019, when the brokerage office and warehouse were officially integrated into the Sunset network.  The addition of Laredo is an exciting example of Sunset’s growth and expansion of services into cross-border customs, filling a need for both US and MX shippers for a seamless border experience with complete visibility into duty, tax, and tariff costs.

Sunset Transportation announces the opening of its seventh branch office as part of a continued strategy of growth in key logistics markets, providing even greater supply chain solutions and strategies for current and future customers. In 2019, Sunset has continued its focus on business intelligence reporting and tracking visibility with the release of a centralized shipper platform for load visibility, LOGIK, for all domestic and international modes. In 2020, Sunset’s corporate headquarters will be moving to a fully renovated 45,000 sq. ft headquarters office in their hometown of Sunset Hills, Missouri (St. Louis).
